HOMESTEAD CREDIT /65+ HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION / MILITARY EXEMPTION

To receive a pre-filled homestead application, email our office at jmorgan@washingtoncounty.iowa.gov / Please include your name, property address and date you moved in.

For taxpayers age 65 and older, please provide your birthdate.

We will email you the form with further instructions. You may also stop in our office to sign up or call to receive the applications by mail.

 To qualify for the homestead credit, owners must reside at the property for at least six months of the year.

July 1st is the annual sign-up deadline.

Important Dates

 April 1 – Assessment rolls mailed

April 1 to April 25 – Taxpayers may request informal review of assessment by assessor’s office

April 2 to April 30 – Protests may be filed with Board of Review, use this link for petitions and information:
